چکیده
The non-linear loads include rectifiers, blenders, electric drills, UPS, computer, printer, TV’s, variable speed drivers, arc furnaces and high power electronic equipment comprising high power semiconductors i.e thyristorised Converters, Inverters etc. It is well known that any deviation from a perfect sin-wave is an indication of the presence of harmonics in the power system. Hence, a pure alternating current or voltage sine-wave has no distortion from a sin-wave and does not contain harmonics whereas a non-sinusoidal wave has distortion and thus harmonic contents. This work describes analyzed and preformed decomposition of the harmonics accurately into the frequency domain (FFT) without losing the timing information. Further attention is given to simpler structure of the harmonics identification techniques for easy implementation. To archive this simulation and mathematical analysis of a full wave rectifier with and without harmonic filter this work was done in MATLAB-SIMULINK environment. It has been observed that contents of harmonics at the output of rectifier quite high without filtering to minimize these harmonics, appropriate harmonic filter have been designed and presented. The harmonic contents in the rectifier with filter reduced to a smaller value. Keywords-Harmonics, Fast Fourier Transform, statistical analysis, MATLAB-SIMULINK

A Coordinated Control Scheme for Improving Voltage Quality Using Power Electronics Interfaced DGs
Recently, increasing of non-linear loads in the power distribution network has been increased harmonics in these networks. The harmonics problems get worse and complicated by installation of power factor correction capacitors and filters. But the Distributed Generations (DGs) interface inverters with properly control can help to improve power quality, harmonic compensation and voltage unbalance...
متن کاملA Direct Power Feeding System for AC Railway Networks Using Modular Multilevel Converter
Abstract Traditional railway power supply systems impose substantial power quality problems (PQ) on the utility network, such as unbalance, harmonics and a large amount of reactive power. This paper proposes a topology based on three-phase to single-phase modular multilevel converters (MMC) to obviate these problems. The MMC based traction substations (TSS) are connected directly to the utili...

AC railway traction loads are usually huge single phase loads. As a result, a significant amount of Negative Sequence Current (NSC) is injected into utility grid. Moreover, harmonics and consumption ofreactive power are further power quality problems that the supply network is encountering. In this paper, acompensation strategy with the aid of Railway Power Conditioner (RPC) is proposed to over...
متن کاملOptimal Capacitor Allocation in Radial Distribution Networks for Annual Costs Minimization Using Hybrid PSO and Sequential Power Loss Index Based Method
In the most recent heuristic methods, the high potential buses for capacitor placement are initially identified and ranked using loss sensitivity factors (LSFs) or power loss index (PLI). These factors or indices help to reduce the search space of the optimization procedure, but they may not always indicate the appropriate placement of capacitors. This paper proposes an efficient approach for t...
